Numerical linear algebra

Many tasks in scientific computing lead to problems from linear algebra. Our group is particularly interested in the following topics:

  • Solution of large, sparse linear systems
  • Solution of linear systems with structured matrices (e.g., with Toeplitz matrices or matrices with tensor structure)
  • Approximation of matrix functions (e.g., matrix exponential or inverse square root)
  • Numerical linear algebra problems with exploitable low-rank structure
